Christ United Methodist Church is having a work day to make/sew “Little Dresses for Africa” this Saturday, Oct. 21, 2023, from 9 a.m. to 12 noon in the Gathering Room at the church at 300 N. Mill St. in Merrill.
All are invited to attend the work day to help reconstruct pillowcases, add embellishments, and turn them into little dresses that will be sent to orphanages, schools, and churches in Africa to be distributed to young girls there.
The project is part of a mission to provide young girls with clothing and also to plant a message in their hearts that they are worthy.
Participants can bring their own sewing machines or just come to help with pinning and cutting, ironing, or hand-stitching. Volunteers of all skill levels are needed and welcome, organizers said. “The dresses are simple, yet time consuming to put together,” they said.
“Join us as we do mission work through fellowship with laughter and love,” organizers said. “We’re not only sending dresses … we’re sending HOPE.”
