Fred Krugler, 86, of Merrill, died Friday, Dec. 12, 2010 at Walnut Grove, Merrill.
Born in Chicago on Aug. 11, 1924, Fred was the son of the late Fred and Marie (Geib) Krugler. He married Floriann Chilsen on Feb. 26, 1972. She preceded him in death on May 26, 2000.
Fred moved to a farm in the Town of Merrill when he was six years old. He graduated from Merrill High School in 1943. He was a self-employed Master Plumber and Building Contractor. In 1971, Fred was joined by his brother, Leroy, building modular homes in the Town of Merrill.
Survivors include one brother, Arthur (Lu) Krugler, Whittier, CA; one sister-in-law, Ruth Krugler, Merrill; step daughters, Lana (Steve) Strasman, Merrill, Candy (Jerry) Kocik, Wausau, and Roxy (Walter) Kobs, Iola; step grandchildren, Steven J. (Karen) Strasman, Stevens Point, Jon (Jeranna) Strasman, Coos Bay, OR, Josh Graham, Wausau, and Casey Graham, Wausau; nine step great-grandchildren; and seven nieces and nephews. Fred was preceded in death by his wife, Floriann; and brother Leroy in 2007.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 17, at St. John Lutheran Church, Merrill. The Rev. David Szeto will officiate. Burial will take place in Merrill Memorial Park. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m. Friday at the church.
