The THS boys visited defending GNC champ Antigo on Friday and stuck within a 45-32 tally despite falling behind 36-16 at the half.
“We can really build on our second-half effort,” THS coach Tim Albert said. “We had 20 turnovers in the first half and cut that to only 6 in the second half.”
The Red Robins turned a 9-5 margin turned into 20-5 lead with an 11-0 run to close the first quarter. Antigo closed the second quarter with a 16-4 run.
Kyle Bartz (12 pts, 17 rebs), Andy Firkus (10 p, 9 r), James Kinnally (5 r, 4 bl) Tyler Jones (6 p) and Troy Timm (4 r) led the way.
The Hatchets connected on 12-of-22 two-pointers (55%) but just 2-of-16 treys (13%).
