Wine lovers took to the streets Saturday afternoon, Oct. 17, 2026, for the first Sip & Stroll Merrill, a wine walk organized by the Merrill Area Chamber of Commerce. The event ran from 1 to 7 p.m. and featured 26 stops at businesses and organizations across a wide swath of Merrill.
The event, open to participants 21 and older, stretched well beyond a single downtown block. Stops covered roughly 2 miles. The route ran from Gesundheit at 1300 E. Main St. on its east end, through the heart of downtown along East First, Second, and Third streets, to North Prospect Street and Grand Avenue on its west end.
With that much ground to cover, participants had options. Those who wanted to walk could stroll from stop to stop. Those who preferred to ride could hop on shuttle buses that carried participants from district to district throughout the afternoon.
The lineup drew in a significant part of the Merrill business community, though not every business took part. As a first-year event, Sip & Stroll Merrill was designed as a starting point. Organizers wanted to see how it performed before expanding it in future years.
Along the way, participants could visit the Merrill Historical Society, which hosted Museum Bingo.
