A caller called 911 and hung up. Contact was made at the residence, and it is believed juveniles there placed the call. A man was cited for misuse of 911, as this was the third such call received this month.
A caller reported a woman near the roundabout who was mooning passing motorists and displaying her middle finger at them. Another caller reported the woman had pulled down her pants and exposed herself to him. The woman was later located and arrested on a lewd and lascivious behavior charge and a probation violation.
A caller requested a welfare check on her adult daughter, saying she was not “acting right.” The daughter was found nearby and was identified as the suspect in the earlier lewd and lascivious act. While being arrested, she became resistive and was also charged with resisting or obstructing an officer.
A caller reported her juvenile son had been slapped and scratched by another juvenile at a park. It was determined the other juvenile had slapped him and placed him in a chokehold that restricted his breathing. A juvenile referral will be made to social services for battery and strangulation and suffocation.

A caller reported someone had used his credit card information to make an unauthorized charge.
A man was arrested for a probation violation at the request of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.

Officers were dispatched to a vehicle break-in in the 2100 block of E. Main St. Items were stolen, and the vehicle was found to have been unlocked at the time of entry. Investigation is ongoing.

Aug. 29, 2026
Officers were dispatched to the 500 block of S. Pine Ridge Ave. regarding a theft. A bicycle was stolen, and the suspect was later caught riding it at a separate location. The bicycle was returned, and the suspect was arrested for theft.

A woman was arrested for bail jumping after she called 911 and hung up. She has called 911 many times in the past and has a bail bond condition prohibiting her from calling 911 unless there is an emergency. While being arrested, she became resistive and was additionally charged with resisting an officer.
A caller reported her husband had grabbed her and tried to prevent her from leaving following an argument. The man was arrested for domestic disorderly conduct.
A woman was arrested on a warrant after an officer delivered a citation to her for an unrelated matter and discovered the warrant.
A caller reported she had lost her wallet after leaving it on top of her vehicle. A citizen later found it and turned it in.

A caller reported unauthorized activity on a store credit card. The store was working with the caller on the matter.

A caller reported a neighbor’s dog habitually barking. The officer found several recent complaints about the dog, and it was barking upon arrival. The owner was cited for keeping a noisy animal.

Officers responded to a disorderly conduct call. It was determined a man was yelling at and threatening his significant other. He was arrested for disorderly conduct.

A caller reported an attempted scam. Someone claiming to represent a company called him and asked him to attach a credit card to his account. He realized it was a scam before providing that information, but his account was locked as a result. Investigation is ongoing.

A caller reported a roommate had broken the back window of his vehicle. It was determined another roommate was leaving in a truck when the first roommate threw a rock at the vehicle, causing the damage. The man was arrested for criminal damage to property, disorderly conduct, and bail jumping.
An officer observed a probationer walking with a woman he is not permitted to have contact with under his probation rules. He was arrested for the probation violation.
A gas station reported a pickup truck had struck a fuel pump, causing damage, and left without reporting it. Investigation is ongoing.

A caller reported a scam attempt after receiving a phone call inquiring about life insurance. The caller did not provide any information and hung up.
A caller reported her child had found a kitchen knife at a park and brought it home. An officer took possession of the knife.
A caller reported his juvenile son had returned from a friend’s residence acting strangely and said he believed his son or the friend had been using drugs. Investigation is ongoing.

Officers responded to a report of a man walking around yelling and throwing items. The man was located and cited for disorderly conduct.
Officers responded to a complaint that a man had threatened another man over a social media app. The man was cited for unlawful use of a computer communication device.

Officers responded to a report of a dog bite and a man brandishing a firearm. The injuries from the dog bite were documented by officers.

An officer took a report of a possible hit-and-run crash at the intersection of E. Main St. and Center Ave. A suspect was identified, and the investigation is ongoing.

The Wisconsin Department of Corrections Probation and Parole requested officers take a man into custody for a probation violation. He was taken into custody and transported to jail.
An officer took a report of a stolen scooter. The suspects were later identified, and the scooter was returned to the owner.

An officer took a report of a theft of mail. Investigation is ongoing.
An officer took a report of a scam in which an individual agreed to sell an item to an out-of-state buyer in exchange for mailed payment. The arrangement was found to be a scam, and the mailed item could not be recovered.
The Wisconsin Department of Corrections Probation and Parole requested officers take a man into custody for a probation violation. He was taken into custody and transported to jail.
A financial institution reported that an individual had attempted to make a large cash withdrawal using fraudulent identification. Investigation is ongoing.

An officer took a report of a stolen scooter. Investigation is ongoing.
An officer took a report of a domestic disturbance that had occurred at a residence earlier in the day. As a result of the investigation, a man was arrested on several charges, including domestic battery, strangulation and suffocation, false imprisonment, and bail jumping.

Sept. 23, 2026
At 8:45 a.m., a caller reported a stolen vehicle. The vehicle had been rented in Merrill the previous month and was to be returned in Florida but was not. Investigation is ongoing.
At 1:18 p.m., a business reported damage to its sign. The people responsible were identified through surveillance video, and the investigation is ongoing.
At 11:37 p.m., a man was arrested for a probation violation at the request of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.
Sept. 24, 2026
At 10:52 a.m., the Marathon County Sheriff’s Office alerted the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office to a driving complaint on CTH W after a report that a vehicle was swerving and crossing the center line. A Merrill officer located the vehicle and saw it cross the center line and exceed the speed limit. The driver showed signs of impairment, agreed to perform field sobriety tests and, as a result, was arrested for operating while intoxicated. A gem bag containing methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were also found, and the driver was additionally charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia.
At 6:14 p.m., a caller reported an argument between two people, one of whom was displaying a machete. It was determined the incident began over driving behavior, which prompted a man to follow the other driver, a woman, and yell and swear at her. The woman became fearful and did not have a cell phone to call for help. She said she armed herself with the machete to prompt the man to call police. Another witness reported the man had nearly struck her vehicle as she passed the scene. Both drivers were cited for disorderly conduct.
