Linnus L. Schlag, 79, of Merrill, passed away Wednesday, December 17, 2025, at Aspirus Merrill Hospital.
Linnus was born on October 31, 1946, at Holy Cross Hospital in Merrill, Wisconsin, son of Elmer Schlag and Delores (Utech) Schlag. He grew up in Merrill and Oshkosh attending grade schools at Trinity Lutheran both in Merrill and Oshkosh. He attended and graduated from Oshkosh High School in Oshkosh in 1964.
Linnus served in the United States Army from Feb. 1966 to Feb. 1968. He made rank of Sgt. E5.
He married Cynthia L. (Farry) Schlag on Feb. 7th 1970 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Oshkosh.
Linnus worked at the former Badger Concrete Company in Oshkosh for 8 years. He then worked at Tanner Prestress & Architectural Concrete in Phoenix, Arizona for 31 years and retired in 2004.
Linnus and Cyndy lived in Oshkosh when first married then moving the Arizona in 1973 and living there until 2008 upon moving back to Merrill.
Linnus enjoyed yard work, especially working with flowers. He enjoyed Polka music, both listening to and dancing to. Linnus also enjoyed the Hodag Country Music Festival in Rhinelander and traveling!
Linnus is survived by his wife, Cynthia; son, Cory and his wife, Sabrina of Calgary, Canada; brother, Tom and his wife, Kyong of Boise, ID; two nephews; and many in-laws, cousins, and friends. Linnus was preceded in death by his parents.
The memorial service for Linnus will be held at 12:00 P.M., Noon, Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill. Rev. Scott Gustafson will officiate. The family will receive friends beginning at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at the church.
