In the morning of December 2nd, Ellen Kobs decided she had endured enough Wisconsin winters and passed away while holding the hand of her son Erik Kobs, who was honored to be by her side. Her parents, Arthur and Ruth (Boettcher) Rusch, and sister, Martha Rusch preceded her in death.
A beloved mother and grandmother, Ellen is survived by her only child Erik, his wife Kasey Kobs, and twin grandchildren Zoe and Max Kobs - sources of much joy and pride in her life. She is also survived by her three sisters: Mary Rusch, Carol (David) Wiskow, and Laura Rusch, who each held a special place in her heart.
Ellen, a graduate of Merrill High School (Class of 1964), married her high-school sweetheart, Paul Kobs. Together they travelled the country in support Paul's service in the U.S. Navy while raising their son, Erik. Though they later divorced, they shared a great adventure, building a beautiful family and a lifetime of memories.
It was Ellen's wish not to have a funeral or formal memorial. Instead, the family recommends we remember her at her best: smart, funny, kind, with deep empathy for others.
