Doris A. Martinell

Doris A. Martinell, of Yuma, Arizona, passed away on Tuesday, January 28th, 2025, following a brief illness at Yuma Regional Medical Center. She was 85 years old.

Born on March 13th, 1939, in Dorchester, Wisconsin, Doris was the daughter of the late Albert and Merle Winchell. On January 22nd, 2009, she married Gordy Martinell, who survives her.

Doris was a dedicated mother to seven children, known for her delicious home-cooked meals and desserts. She held various jobs throughout her life, including waitress, cook, and even running a chainsaw and driving a skidder. Doris was truly one of a kind, capable of fixing roofs, laying cement, sewing clothes, and preserving food. She could sing, dance, and bring joy to those around her. She taught her seven children to be good, loving, and caring adults. Doris enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, gardening, traveling, going on cruises, deer hunting, and visiting casinos.

In addition to her husband, Doris is survived by her sister, Marion (Lavern) Yorde; her six children, Cheryl (Michael) Busch of Deerbrook, WI, Noreen (Michael) Schulz of Athens, WI, Darla (Dave) Vachavake of Merrill, WI, Steve Schmidt (fiancée, Sheila Pound) of Cadiz, Kentucky, Bob (Ann) Schmidt of Summit Lake, WI, and Gail (Josh) Lindemann of Surprise, AZ. She also leaves behind 22 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and four nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her daughter Collette Rustick, her granddaughter Julie Meade Busch, and her great-great-granddaughter Telari Comer.

A ‘Celebration of Life’ will be held to honor her memory.
