Donald “Don” L. Layman, age 86, of Rothschild, WI, passed away on Friday, January 30, 2026. Don was born on March 12, 1939, in Merrill, WI, to the late Earl and Leona (Zastrow) Layman. Raised and attended school in Merrill, Don proudly served his country in the United States Air Force after high school.
Following his military service, Don lived in California for many years. He spent his working life as an over-the-road truck driver, a career that allowed him to travel extensively throughout the country, something he truly enjoyed. Don cherished time spent with his family, especially his nieces, nephews, and their families.
He is survived by his brother, Jack Layman, of Antigo, WI, in addition to several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Don was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Leona; his brothers, Maurice, Bob, and Allen; his sisters, Janice and Sharon; two nieces; and three nephews.
