Janice E. Kleinschmidt

Janice E. Kleinschmidt passed away on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at the age of 82, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice at Pine Crest Nursing Home in Merrill, WI.  Janice was born in Gleason, WI, on April 6, 1941, to the late Harold “Happy” and Eloise (Travis) Hipke.

Janice enjoyed many of her last years with her significant other, Herman Krueger.  They went on many great adventures together.  She attended the Drew School 1stthrough 8th grades and graduated from Merrill High School.  She was a grill cook at various restaurants in town which included Champs, Skippers, Riverside Club, and the Merrill Golf Course.  Janice worked for many years at Zettler’s Bakery, Weinbrenner, Fox Point, and retired from Semling and Menke.  Her grandkids meant a lot to her and share many great memories of her.  Janice had a love for animals, knitting, sweets, going to garage sales, fishing, taking walks, and going on trips to casinos. 

Survivors include her children, Sandy Pike, Mike Kleinschmidt, Jodi Romang, Kelvin Kleinschmidt, and Kris Kleinschmidt; her grandchildren, Kortney Pike, Tiffany (Brandon)Peterson, Erika Brigham, Kaleb Kleinschmidt, Chloe Kleinschmidt, Lucas Bessey, Jacob Romang, and Jared Romang; her great-grandchildren, Sawyer Peterson, and Clay and Tucker Brigham; and her sister, Bonnie Schwartzman.  She is further survived by many wonderful nieces and nephews, and can’t forget her granddog, Bentley.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Eloise; and her brother, Cecil Hipke.

A visitation for Janice Kleinschmidt will be held on Sunday, March 24, 2024, at Pine Crest Nursing Home in Merrill from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM. A celebration of life gathering and socializing will continue at S & S Bar, located at 418 Grand Avenue in Merrill from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

 Janice wanted those that knew and loved her to remember her by the good times and laughs that they had together.

The family wishes to express their utmost gratitude for the care she received from Dr. Christian Lee, Sarah Jaeger, PAC, and the rest of the staff at the Aspirus Merrill Clinic and Pine Crest Nursing Home.
