LINCOLN COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE REPORT

For week of Nov. 7-Nov. 12, 2023

During this period the Lincoln County 911 Center received seven 911 nuisance calls/hang ups. The Lincoln County deputies conducted 41 traffic stops with 3 resulting in OWI arrests. Within the county this week, there were 16 car vs. animal collisions.

On 11/06/2023 at approximately 7:00 p.m. Lincoln County 911 Center received a call stating there was a vehicle on fire in the area of US Hwy. 51 and US Hwy. 8 in the Township of Bradley. Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies and Tomahawk Fire Department responded to the scene. Once deputies arrived on scene, they made contact with the driver, a 50 -year-old male from Eau Claire. The driver was not injured, the fire was extinguished, and the vehicle was removed from the scene.

On 11/11/2023 at approximately 2:00 a.m. in the area of Cty. Rd. S and Herb Mitchell Rd. in the Township of Bradley, a Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputy conducted a routine traffic stop of a vehicle for speeding. The deputy made contact with the driver, a 33 -year-old male from Wausau, who displayed signs of alcohol impairment. The driver was placed through a series of field sobriety tests and, as a result of those tests, he was arrested for OWI 1st offense. The driver was released to a responsible party and the vehicle was tagged for 24 hours.

On 11/11/2023 at approximately 11 p.m. in the area of French Ridge Rd. and State Rd. 64 in the Township of Pine River, a Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputy conducted a routine traffic stop of a vehicle for no lights on a trailer. The deputy made contact with the driver, a 25 -year-old male from Merrill, and the passenger, a 24 -year-old male from Merrill. Upon further investigation, it was determined the passenger had bond restrictions stating he could not consume any alcoholic beverages. Passenger provided a PBT and was arrested for bail jumping and cited for having an open intoxicant in the vehicle. The passenger of the vehicle was transported to the Lincoln County Jail.

On 11/12/2023 at approximately 2:50 a.m. in the area of Cty. Rd. S and US Hwy. 51 in the Township of Skanawan, a Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputy conducted a routine traffic stop of a vehicle for speeding. The deputy made contact with the driver, a 19 -year-old male from Merrill, who displayed signs of alcohol impairment. The driver was placed through a series of field sobriety tests and, as a result of those tests, he was arrested for OWI 1st offense, possession of THC, and cited for speed. Deputies also made contact with the passenger, an 18 -year-old male from Harshaw, who was cited for UAL (underage alcohol violation). He was released to a parent while the driver was transported to Merrill Aspirus Hospital for medical clearance, then transported to the Lincoln County Jail.
