Thomas Charles Curran

Thomas Charles Curran, 73, of Merrill, WI, passed away on Nov. 1st, 2023 surrounded by his family.

Tom’s story started on March 16th, 1950 as the oldest child born to Harry and Faye Curran in Medford, WI.  He attended Medford High School and went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Wisconsin- Eau Claire.  He started his career as a high school counselor in Bruce, WI where he met his wife Gail who was a teacher there. They then moved to Merrill, WI where he was a social worker at the Lincoln Hills Juvenile Correction Facility in Irma, WI for several years and then ended his career as a Probation and Parole Officer in the Merrill, Wausau and Medford areas.  He has been retired for the last 18 years and spent time enjoying his hobbies and his grandkids.

Tom was well known by his family and friends as a junk collector and one of his favorite hobbies was garage saling.  He loved the hunt for things he didn’t know he needed.  He would never accept sticker price for anything and was always ready for negotiations.  His second favorite hobbies were hunting and fishing.  His favorite place to spend time was at his land and cabin in Rib Lake, WI.  Over the years, he hosted many hunters at his cabin and not one of them left without having a good time.

Tom’s grandchildren were the greatest gift of his life and he spent every bit of time enjoying them.  The greatest memories for his grandkids are his bedtime stories of the Old, Old Cabin and sharing his love of garage saling, hunting and fishing with them.

Loved ones who cleared the path for Tom are his mother Faye Curran and father Harry Curran. Loved ones that will miss him dearly are his wife Gail Curran, his son and daughter in law Mike and Laura Curran, his daughter and son in law Sarah and Brian Bradshaw and his grandchildren Anna Curran (6), Ella Curran (9), Sophia Curran (7) and Rylan Bradshaw (14).

Per Tom’s request there will be no public services or funeral and his life will be celebrated privately by his family and close friends.
