On July 15/16 and 22/23, 2023, the Merrill Youth Hockey Association hosted their first Annual Summer Classic Youth and Adult Tournaments at the Merrill Area Recreation Center. The Youth Tournament was held July 15 and 16 consisted of two divisions making up 10 teams with more than 100 players from across Wisconsin, organizers said. The first place 10U team (red team) consisted of players from Merrill, Wausau, Mosinee, Marshfield, Minocqua, Stevens Point, Kronenwetter, and Waterloo. The first place 12U team (white team) included players from Merrill, Mosinee, Rhinelander, Wausau, Medford, Kronenwetter, Gresham, and Waunakee.

The Adult Tournament welcomed more than 40 players from Wisconsin and Illinois on July 22 and 23. The Burgener Contract Carriers Team took first place and included players from Merrill, Wausau, Weston, Fond du Lac, and Oconto Falls.
