Meet the new heifer at this weekend’s event open to the public

On July 5, 2023, Vickie and Otto Reese welcomed a new addition to Country Haven Farm – Wounded Warriors United of Wisconsin in Gleason. A baby girl was born to one of their Scottish Highland cows. “She is a healthy and happy girl,” Vickie said. “We have not named her yet, but we are overjoyed at our little addition.”
The new heifer, an adorable dun (nearly neutral slightly brownish dark gray) color, is just one of the animals on the rural Gleason farm where Wisconsin veterans and their families can interact with and enjoy the Scottish Highland cows, miniature donkies, Mangolista pigs, and pygmy and fainting goats. The farm is designed as a getaway for veterans, but this Saturday, July 29, the public is invited to visit the farm, enjoy live music by Country Rewind, and help raise funds to build a new cabin where veterans and their families will be able to stay free of charge.
A free pig roast is being held this Saturday [advance registration/RSVP was required to plan for food] for those who registered. But the couple welcomes everyone who wants to just come to meet the animals, learn what Country Haven Farm is all about, enjoy the music and hay rides, and learn more about how they can help honor and support the veterans who served our country by providing them a respite from the challenges and struggles many face every day. Bring a lawn chair, but please leave pets at home; however, trained service dogs are welcome at this event.
