Northwoods Chapter of Ice Age Trail Alliance meeting to feature Great Pinery Heritage Waterway presentation

The Northwoods Chapter of the Ice Age Trail Alliance will meet on Wednesday May 3, 2023, at 6:30 p.m. at the Lincoln County Service Center Building, 801 N. Sales St., in Merrill. Following a brief annual business meeting, Chris and Candace Schotz will give a presentation on the Great Pinery Heritage Waterway. The Great Pinery Heritage Waterway highlights the 19th century heritage of the Wisconsin River and three of its tributaries: the Rib River, the Priarie River, and the Eau Claire River (east). The couple will provide a historic tour of Wisconsin’s newest designated waterway, highlighting historic floods and log jams, as well as Precambrian barriers and Ojibwe portages on the Wisconsin River. The guide will also highlight features and amenities in Lincoln and Marathon Counties and preview future developments to the north and south on Wisconsin’s longest river.
The meeting and presentation are open to the public. For more information, contact Ruby Jaecks at [email protected] or 715.551.1118.
