The Merrill Foto News and Tina L. Scott, Editor/Photographer, were recognized at the 2022 Wisconsin Newspaper Association (WNA) Awards in Madison the end of March 2023. Scott received first place in the General News Photo category for division C for her front page image entitled “One of the Good Ones.” She also received first place in the Photo Gallery category for division C for her photo gallery entitled “Gathering to celebrate the life of ‘One of the Good Ones'” for which a judge commented, in part, “This shows the true power of photojournalism … Excellent.” Scott also received an Honorable Mention for Investigative Reporting for division C, D, and E combined for her article titled “Cordovas file wrongful death lawsuit against Lincoln County.”
