James ‘Jim’ R. Erno, age 81, of Merrill, passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at the Marshfield Medical Center in Weston.  He was born to the late Rolland and Betty (Gorham) Erno on October 21, 1941 in Ashland, WI.  Jim attended and graduated from the Rochester Agriculture School, and went on to join the 32nd division of the Army National Guard.  He was honorably discharged.  Jim worked in construction for the majority of his life. Working for SGS Construction, he had many responsibilities, including removing gas tanks from gas stations.  He also drove trucks and buses; he just loved driving!  Jim appreciated and enjoyed the beauty of the Wisconsin Northwoods, and would spend a lot of time outdoors, whether it was walking the trails, hunting or fishing.  He was a long-time member of the Merrill Eagles Club and enjoyed the friendships he developed there.  Jim will be sadly missed, but never forgotten.

Jim leaves behind his children: Dean (Karen) Erno of South Milwaukee, WI, daughter: Londa Garrow of Los Angeles, Phil Erno of Superior, WI, Jill (Mike) Mlinar of South Milwaukee, WI and step-daughter: Jennifer (Tony) Blank of Superior, WI, grandchildren: Haley (Austin) Schuls, with their sons: Bentley and Mason, Joie Erno, Whitney Baker, Samantha Mlinar and James Tirrell, brother: Tom (Sue) Erno, sister: Donna (Delroy) Doriott, as well as many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Per family request, no services will be held for Jim. Waid Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Merrill is assisting the family with arrangements.  Online condolences are encouraged and may be made at www.waidfuneral.com.
