The Merrill Foundation, Inc. announced it is awarding $1,000 to Girls on the Run North Central Wisconsin to help girls in the area participate in the Girls on the Run® program. The grant will support the organization’s efforts to inspire and empower girls to be confident and healthy through the power of running.
Girls on the Run is a nonprofit organization that provides a physical activity-based youth development program for girls in third through eighth grades. The program teaches critical life skills such as confidence, connection, and character, while also incorporating running and other physical activities.
The Merrill Foundation’s grant will help Girls on the Run North Central Wisconsin provide scholarships for girls who may not have the means to participate in the program. The funds will also support the organization’s community 5K, which is scheduled for May 13, 2023, at 9:30 a.m. beginning at the Agra Pavilion, 100 S. Park Street in Merrill.
“We are thrilled to support Girls on the Run North Central Wisconsin and their efforts to empower girls in our community,” said Jeremy Cordova, President of the Merrill Foundation. “The Girls on the Run program is a wonderful opportunity for girls to develop life skills and physical fitness in a supportive and encouraging environment.”
The Merrill Foundation is a nonprofit, tax-exempt philanthropic organization created to support programs in the greater Merrill area. The Foundation is organized exclusively for charitable, religious, educational, and scientific purposes, including making distributions to local nonprofit organizations.
