MERRILL POLICE DEPARTMENT REPORTS

12-19-22
Officers responded to a report of a male party causing issues at a residence, to the point of others not feeling safe being at the residence. Contact was made with the male party who was taken into custody for disorderly conduct.
An officer responded to an apartment complex in reference to a suspicious vehicle. The caller advised that they have not seen the vehicle in the lot before and the passenger side door was wide open. The officer located the vehicle with no one around. The door was closed and nothing suspicious was located around the vehicle.

Dispatch advised of an attempted fraud of a Merrill resident. The reporting party reported that he was told by a person claiming to be with an well know business which awards prizes, that he had won a large sum of money. The caller knew this was a scam. It was reported that the representatives would be coming to the residence to deliver the winnings. Officers stood by and no one came to the residence. This case is still under investigation.
At approximately 4:13 p.m. Probation and Parole Office requested officers to take a male party into custody. The male was arrested and booked in the Lincoln County jail for a probation violation.

At 10:27 a.m. a crash with possible injury was reported in a business parking lot. The vehicle had to be removed by a tow truck.
At 11:24 a.m. a second two-vehicle crash was reported in a business parking lot. The vehicles were able to be removed by the owners.

12-22-2022
At 7:44 a.m. an individual was reported to have left a gas station without paying for their gas. The registered owner of the vehicle was identified and contacted through the vehicle’s license plate on security footage. The registered owner paid for the gas after being contacted.
At 12:54 p.m. officers responded to a residence to assist another agency in looking for an individual. The individual being searched for was not at the residence, but a different male present was confirmed to have a warrant and was taken into custody.

At 7:08 a.m. officers responded to a church in reference to a hit and run. It was found the evening before someone had struck the church’s fence.
At 10:09 a.m. an officer responded to a local business in reference to theft by an employee. The investigation is ongoing.

12-24-2022
At 6:04 p.m. dispatch advised of a harassment complaint. The female reporting party stated there was another female yelling profanity out the window while driving on E. Main Street. The investigation is ongoing

12-25-2022
At 3:10 p.m. officers responded to a missing person complaint. Officers were advised the caller’s adult daughter had left the night prior to drop gifts off at an unknown location and she never returned. Officers attempted to locate the female with no success. Officers were later advised she returned to the house and everything was fine with her.
At 7:56 p.m. officers responded to an apartment complex in reference to a person attempting to break into one of the residences. Upon officers arrival the suspect was gone. Officers made contact with the resident of the apartment who advised the suspect was a friend trying to get some of their belongings from the apartment. This ended officer’s involvement as the resident advised they would contact the individual to set up a time to pick the items up.
