Effective Nov. 7, 2022, Robert Caylor of the Merrill Police Department was promoted to Patrol Lieutenant overseeing one of the four patrol shifts. Robert (also known as JP) recently competed in a promotion process that was very competitive across the measured categories, the Merrill Police Department shared, and he was the candidate that rose to the top of the ranks, so to speak. He will take over command of his current dayshift and then transition to night shift at the beginning of 2023. His first order of business the week of Nov. 7 was attending FBI-LEEDA Supervisor Leadership Institute training at the Wisconsin State Patrol Academy.
“Robert has 10 years of experience with Merrill PD, is active volunteer Fire, is an active licensed paramedic, a field training officer, and an instructor,” the Merrill PD shared.
“He is also one of the few ‘legacy’ employees we have, as he comes from a line of public servants. Needless to say his father would be proud and I’m sure JP will wear his old Lt. bars. Congratulations JP!” Police Chief Corey Bennett said.
