LaVern Brunow

LaVern C. Brunow, 83, of Merrill passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2022, at his home. LaVern was born on July 8, 1939, in the Town of Hamburg, son of the late Erwin and Grelda (Sodkey) Brunow. He married Lorraine Storm on February 13, 1965, at Christ United Methodist Church in Merrill. She survives. LaVern worked at Semco for thirty-eight years as a lumber lift operator. He was a member of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, Town of Berlin. Lavern enjoyed making firewood, four-wheeling, fishing, snowmobiling, deer hunting, visiting friends and neighbors, and talking on the phone. He loved his Ford tractors and spending time at his land.

LaVern is survived by his wife, Lorraine Brunow of Merrill; daughter, Jean (Steven) Riehle of Merrill; grandchildren, Tyler (Chelsea) Riehle of Marathon, and Ashley (Chris Behrens) Riehle of Merrill; and sister-in-law, Helen (John) Sczygelski of Merrill. LaVern was preceded in death by his parents, Erwin and Grelda Brunow, and an infant brother.

The funeral service for LaVern will be held at 11:00 A.M., Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Town of Berlin, Marathon County. Rev. Andrew DeGier will officiate. Burial will take place in Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 9:30 A.M., Tuesday at the church. Taylor-Stine Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Merrill, is assisting the family.
