In June 2022, the City of Merrill hired Chantel Kuczmarski to work as a Communication Consultant for the City, working as an independent contractor.
Earlier this year the City formed a Marketing Committee to address issues related to the City’s image and branding, and the Common Council approved Kuczmarski’s hiring to help improve both internal and external communications for the City. Ultimately, Kuczmarksi said, the goal is to also help the City attract and retain talent for both the City and Merrill area employers.
Kuczmarski said first she will focus on communicating branding changes as they are developed, gaining knowledge about all of the City’s pertinent projects, and helping to update the City’s website.
Kuczmarski has prior experience as a print journalist and has also worked in corporate, agency, and nonprofit communications. She has experience managing marketing budgets, social media platforms, media relations, digital marketing, internal communications, and events. Kuczmarski has a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and Mass Communications from UW-Madison.
After growing up in Peoria, Ill., Kuczmarski moved to Wisconsin in 2002. She and her husband purchased an auto body shop for collision repairs in Eagle River in 2017, and they moved to the Northwoods shortly after. They currently live in Three Lakes with their son. Kuczmarski will travel to Merrill frequently in her new role, as well as work remotely.
“It’s a very exciting time to be a part of Merrill’s branding and marketing efforts,” Kuczmarski said. “This community is one-of-a-kind, and has so much to offer. From its small town charm, plentiful jobs, and incredible schools to miles of recreational trails, public parks, and access to the Wisconsin River, Merrill is an ideal location for outdoor enthusiasts and families. It just needs to be communicated better, and that’s what I’m here to do.”
