Michael ‘Soupy” Schneider

Michael J. ‘Soupy’ Schneider, age 71, of Merrill, passed away Friday, January 28, 2022, at his home. Soupy was born October 22, 1950, in Merrill, son of the late Clarence and Charlotte (Sampson) Schneider. He married Ann Lambrecht on October 10, 1970, in Merrill. She survives. Soupy worked as a delivery driver and salesman for Schneider Distributing Company for 42 years. More recently, he was working part-time as a courier for Church Mutual Insurance Company. Soupy enjoyed playing baseball in his earlier years, golfing, and traveling out west. Soupy especially enjoyed taking roads trips with good friends Keith and Cathy, and Jill and Squirrel. Soupy loved to watch the Packer, Badger and Brewer games while enjoying a beer with his friends. He was a member of the Eagle’s Club and bowled in many Eagle’s Club tournaments. Soupy was also a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Merrill. Soupy’s pride and joy were his three boys and loved spending time with them. He loved spending time with all the grandkids and attended any activity he could. Soupy will be remembered most for his witty sense of humor, quick come backs, and his ability to make everyone laugh.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Ann Schneider of Merrill; sons, Michael (Becky) Schneider of Nevada, Iowa, Andrew (Tara) Schneider of Merrill, and Greg (Becky) Schneider of Merrill; grandchildren, Elizabeth West (Ian Koebe), Brianna Schneider (KaVon Pierce), Samuel Schneider, Alexis Schneider, Spencer Schneider, and Alyssa Schneider; four great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Summit, Luna, and Alaia; one great-grandchild on the way; brothers, Gerald ‘Buck’ (Valeria) Schneider of Minocqua, and William ‘Bill’ (Sharon) Schneider of Merrill; and mother-in-law, Pennie Lambrecht Beyea of Merrill.  Soupy was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Charlotte Schneider; grandson, David Matthew Schneider; and grandson-in-law, Tim West.

The Funeral Liturgy for Michael ‘Soupy’ Schneider will take place at 12:00 P.M., Noon, Friday, February 4, 2022, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Merrill. Father Maridas Vallabhaneni will preside. Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Thursday, February 3, 2022, at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill.
