Michael L. ‘Mike’ Rasmussen, age 74, of Merrill, passed away Sunday, October 24, 2021, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital due to natural causes. Mike was born February 14, 1947, in Lincoln County, son of the late Leslie and Marcia ‘Joan’ (Whitney) Rasmussen. He worked as a sheet metal worker for Mid-State Contracting for over forty years. Mike was a gentle soul. He loved nature and was an avid hunter, sportsman, and gun enthusiast. Mike was an active member of the Lincoln Gun Club and a forty year member of the International Handgun Metallic Silhouette Association (IHMSA) were he received many awards at various levels including internationally. Over many years he enjoyed attending “Thursday Pie Night” with his buddies.
Survivors include his lifelong companion and friend, Katie Livingston; his brother Patrick Rasmussen; nieces and nephews, Shannon, Shawna, Thane (Andrea), Jason (Alicia), Stephen Jr., Natasha (Adam), and Felicia (Brian); sister-in-law, Natalie; many great nieces and nephews; and many lifelong friends across the United States. Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Marcia ‘Joan’ Rasmussen; brother, Stephen Rasmussen; sister-in-law, Lynn Rasmussen; and his beloved pets, Hannah and Lincoln.
