With the hiring of Theresa Monti as the new Store Manager for the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store in Merrill, the store will begin weekly hours in Oct., effective immediately. Initially, the store will be open each Thursday and Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. This schedule will continue through the end of the month and they will reassess at that time.
The idea is to try this out and see how it goes, said Freida Swanson, President of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul in Merrill.
That will give the new Store Manager a chance to get acclimated, she said. It will also allow additional time to recruit additional volunteers.
More volunteers at the Thrift Store are needed to enable the store to expand its hours, Swanson said. The current slate of volunteers is not equipped or numerous enough to fill out a full schedule.
