Jeanette Kathryn Fondow

Jeanette Kathryn Fondow, age 100, of Antigo died Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at The Bay at Eastview.  Jeanette was born on January 19, 1921 in Bavaria, WI to the late John and Eva (Kluball) Simon.  Jeanette was united in marriage to Richard E. Fondow on August 25, 1946 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in the Town of Summit. Richard preceded her in death on March 3, 1992.  Jeanette attended Sunnyslope School in her grade school years. She was a graduate of Antigo High School class of 1938 and then went on to attend Wausau Business Institute until 1940. She ventured off to Milwaukee from 1942-1946 doing clerical work for Wrought Manufacturing and bookkeeping at Spic & Span Dry Cleaners. In returning to Antigo, she waitressed at Tesch’s Supper Club and in 1964 began working for the Antigo Vocational School, later known as Northcentral Technical College.  She ended her career in clerical work with the Langlade County Department of Social Services and the Langlade County Veteran’s Service Office in 1987.  Jeanette was a member of Peace Lutheran Church where she was also a member of Dorcas Society, Lutheran Womens Missionary League, Altar Guild, the choir, and Parent Teacher League.  She was a longtime member of 4-H, Antigo Music Association, and a volunteer at Langlade Memorial Hospital.

Survivors include 3 sons: Richard E. (Jackie) Fondow, II of Antigo, Reverend Donald J. (Connie) Fondow of Park Rapids, MN, Gerald W. (Lisa) Fondow of Sun Prairie, WI, 8 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, a sister Darlene (Don) Granger of New Auburn, WI, and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents and husband, Jeanette was preceded in death by 2 brothers and their wives: John (Vivian) Simon and Eugene (Geraldine) Simon and a sister and her husband Adeline (Howard) Boyle.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 27, 2021 at 11:00 am at Peace Lutheran Church.  Reverend David Karolus will officiate. Visitation will be Thursday August 26, 2021 from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at Strasser-Roller Funeral Home and on Friday from 10:00 am until the service at the church. Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jeanette’s name may be directed to Peace Lutheran Church and School and The Lutheran Hour.  Friends may visit online at strasserrollerfuneralhome.com.
