Maya Paulus was named Prairie River Middle School (PRMS) Youth Optimist of the month for February 2021. She was nominated by Mrs. Kraegenbrink.
“I have known Maya for three years, beginning in sixth grade in my classroom, and have seen her shine brighter and brighter each year,” Kraegenbrink said. “She has the most contagious smile and biggest heart! She is well deserving of this award because of her top-notch attitude! Maya has been a valuable student at Prairie River Middle School through her hard work in the classroom and in sports and clubs. Maya also possesses the special trait of seeing the good in others. Her positive attitude and bubbly spirit shine in all her activities from school to home. She’s always a team player and leader. Maya has volunteered numerous times for activities over the years in Student Council and is an outstanding leader in her 8th grade class. Maya is the definition of what an optimist is!”
Maya is involved in Student Council, Math Counts, and Volleyball, and has been named Student of the Quarter, been on the Gold Honor Roll, and received the Citizenship Award in both 6th and 7th grades. She is also involved in 4-H, has helped clean up highway ditches, has helped the elderly move, and serves at her church. Maya also enjoys cooking and golfing and said she enjoys being a fun person. She is the daughter of Juri Paulus and Adam Paulus of Gleason.
