Eugene “Gene” R. Hagedorn

Eugene “Gene” R. Hagedorn, age 79 of Plover, passed away Thursday morning, April 1, 2021 at Ascension St. Michaels Hospital with his loving wife at his side. Gene was born October 7, 1941 in Merrill, WI. He was the son of the late Theodore, Sr. and Agnes (Reinke) Hagedorn. Gene served in the Army National Guards from 1960 to 1967. He was called to active duty and stationed in Seattle, WA., during the Berlin Crisis. He was honorably discharged on May 31, 1967. His marriage to Sharon Pike took place on April 19, 1969 in Gleason, WI. His wife Sharon survives. Gene worked for Consolidated Papers Biron Division, later Stora Enso North American Division retiring after 38 years in October 2003. Eugene was a member of Good Shepard Lutheran Church in Plover.Gene enjoyed deer hunting, fishing and Camping at Shell Lake Campground. He also enjoyed carpentry and wood working, building bird houses for the backyard and pedestals for his wife’s indoor plants. He loved playing cards, gardening, bowling and trying his luck at the Casino. Gene was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie # 584 of Merrill, and attended many National Bowling tournaments. Survivors include his wife Sharon of Plover, his brother Ted (Mary) Hagedorn, Jr. of Wisconsin Rapids, a sister, Beverly (Matthew) Callahan of South Venice, FL. and many nieces and nephews.
