It’s hard to believe that our students are more than halfway through the school year! Despite the seemingly persistent flu bug and fluctuating temperatures, there is a lot taking place from a school district perspective.
Strategic Plan 2020-2023
The purpose of developing our Strategic Plan is to basically create a roadmap of where the district must be in three years. It identifies the tools and strategies to elevate our current student achievement data while remaining fiscally responsible to our local taxpayers. It further illustrates a commitment to the resources necessary to sustain the district in meeting the social-emotional, academic and financial needs of our students.
Each of our reform measures are based on data and research-based strategies. Best practices result from our training led by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA). Furthermore, we are committed to the research-based practices of Allan R. Odden, author of Improving Student Learning When Budgets Are Tight. These principles and practices allow us to address student growth from an academic and social perspective, while still maintaining our identity as a school district community.
Our Strategic Plan also incorporates our District Scorecard which was created in collaboration with our community. Our scorecard contains four pillars: Student Achievement and Success, Community Partnership, Student and Staff Wellness and Fiscal Responsibility. The administrative team has aligned annual smarter goals, strategic actions, and progress monitoring tools to each of the four pillars. Every building and department maintains their own scorecard as a means of measuring their success.
The role of school administrators has seen an unusually high turnover rate in the State of Wisconsin for a number of reasons. By establishing a multi-year Strategic Plan, it is my hope to create a plan that will drive academic achievement and fiscal responsibility well into the future. Our students, all of our students, deserve the very best we have to offer.
Please look for our Strategic Plan as it is scheduled to be released this Spring.
Community Input Needed
We recently added the Community Partnership Survey – Quarter 2 to our MAPS website. This survey provides us with feedback based on input from our community members. It is just one strategic action which allows us to monitor our progress with respect to community satisfaction. It is also aligned to the Community Partnership pillar of our District Scorecard. The survey is very brief so I encourage you to participate in this process. Thank you in advance!
