The last week of January, through funding from the Beyond Pencils and Crayons grant program of the Merrill Area Community Foundation, fifth graders at Kate Goodrich Elementary held a food drive to support the Merrill Food Pantry. Students and staff members were asked to donate one can of soup to reach the goal of 417 cans. This goal was reached and surpassed by Thursday!
The students created a new goal of 500 cans for Friday, Jan 31. The Kate Goodrich staff, students, and families blew that goal off the field and donated 564 cans of soup, which was 586 pounds of food to the food pantry.
