At the Mosinee Recreation Center, the East-Merrill United Bluejacks took on a strong Mosinee team on Thursday, Jan. 27. The game started slow for the Bluejacks who ended the first period down 1-5 and things wouldn’t get much better as EMU (East-Merrill United) lost by a final score of 10-3.
Following a rough first period the Bluejacks would begin to comeback in the second with an Eli Pagel goal just 1:36 into the period. Isaac Young passed the puck to Jack Piskula, who would find Pagel just in time for an EMU goal. Mosinee would be quick to respond, scoring two goals in a row to extend their lead to 7-2. The Bluejacks refused to lay down and quit, as Pagel would find the back of the net again at the 11:27 mark (assisted by Piskula). The Indians would then go on to score three more goals on their way to a 10-3 win over EMU.
Eli Pagel would score all three Bluejack goals on the night. Other noteable performances for EMU include: Jack Piskula (2 assists) and Truman Shull (20 saves).
The Bluejacks will be back on the Ice on Thursday, Feb. 6, as EMU hosts Wisconsin Valley Conference foe Wisconsin Rapids. Puck drop is slotted for 7 p.m.
