Hatchets pull out a win from another five-set match

Hatchet volleyball ended their regular season with another back-and-forth five set match against Lakeland Union. From the 3-2 match, Lakeland won sets one and three 25-21 and 25-20, but Tomahawk won sets two and four 25-17, 25-10 and snagged the fifth set victory with a score of 15-10.

“Why not have another five set match; we seem to be getting used to it!” comments head coach Paul Zierten.”It was a great way to end our regular season and on senior night especially. The girls came out to play and show they’re ready to start our regional at Mosinee next Tuesday.

“We came out a little slow and then began to pick it up. The crowd really got into the game and kept our girls’ spirits high. Once we started getting passes our offense got more comfortable with their swings. Both Beth Bunce and Taylor Shilts did a nice job setting tonight and our outsides (Courtney Theiler and Elena Wallenfang) were swinging very well. If we can come out with the same energy we had in the 4th and 5th games I know we can sneak a victory out at Mosinee next week.

“I would also like to thank Rhonda Rindo for setting up a donation drive to the Tomahawk Backpack program. We gave out Senior Night shirts to anyone who brought in three non-perishable food items and accepted cash donations. Over 250 food items and $100 were collected throughout the night to support those in our community. Thank you to everyone who donated and helped out with such a great cause!”
