Saturday afternoon, an officer on patrol in the area of Cotter Avenue and Foster Street stopped a vehicle after identifying the vehicle as being registered to an individual with an outstanding arrest warrant.
According to officer notes, upon stopping the vehicle it was discovered the driver was not the registered owner and was identified as 26-year old Kyle Kleinschmidt.
Upon further investigation, it was discovered Kleinschmidt was on probation and had an open felony bond. Kleinschmidt was also found to be driving with revoked driving status and appeared to be under the influence.  The investigating officer was also the Merrill Police Department’s Drug Recognition Expert.
According to further notes from the officer, Kleinschmidt did not complete roadside field sobriety testing in a satisfactory manner and was taken into custody. A search of the vehicle yielded synthetic urine as well as a small amount of Marijuana.
As a result, Kleinschmidt was transported to the Lincoln County Jail on felony charges of Operating while Under the Influence (4th within 5 years); Bail Jumping and additional charges of 11th Offense-Operating After Revocation and Possession of THC-2nd Offense.
