Shane A. Maluegge, 43 of Merrill, was charged May 27 with Felony charges of Possession of Firearm by a Felon and 2nd Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety as well as misdemeanor charges of Operating a Firearm while Intoxicated and Endangering Safety by Use of a Dangerous Weapon.
According to court records, Maluegge was involved in an incident at his Town of Pine River home on Thursday May 26, in which he reportedly made threats to harm himself and armed himself with a firearm. Law enforcement officers on-scene reportedly attempted to reach Maluegge several times unsuccessfully by phone, before Maluegge reportedly discharged a single gunshot inside the residence, from the firearm. Maulegge then reportedly dropped the firearm and surrendered to law enforcement. Maluegge later admitted to consuming alcohol and having issues with his medications.
