Rutt’n Rod Outfitters LLC, owned by Eric and Amy Heimerl and Jon and Michelle Smith, both of the town of Pine River, announces the purchase of the former Backwater Sports property on Cty. K in Merrill. The property changed ownership on Nov. 14 and is currently closed for extensive remodeling.
The new owners are long-time Merrill area residents.
Following the remodeling project, the business will reopen as Rutt’n Rod Outfitters.
The sports goods store will continue to provide high quality live bait, tackle, fishing and archery equipment and repair. Additional product lines such as trapping equipment, optics, camo and blaze apparel, and fishing electronics will be offered. Rutt’n Rod Outfitters will also seek to become a Wisconsin DNR license seller and game registration station.
Eric Heimerl will become the store’s full-time manager.
Outdoor enthusiasts can expect a greatly expanded inventory, ranging from introductory to professional brands.
The expected opening date is early March 2015.
