Robert ?Bob? Wilke

Robert “Bob” Wilke, age 88, of Merrill, passed away Thursday, June 19, 2014 at Pine Crest Nursing Home. He was born September 1, 1925 in Merrill to the late Robert and Esther (Holl) Wilke. He and Mardene Berlin were united in marriage October 14, 1953 in Neenah, WI, a union lasting over 60 years.
Bob attended Wausau High School, then went on to vocational school for accounting. He worked a combined 42 years at Wisconsin Window Unit and Hurd as a mill worker. Bob enjoyed hunting deer, bird and small game and fishing for trout in the Prairie River. In his younger years, Bob was a member of the Lincoln County Sports Club. He was an avid Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers and Braves fan.  Bob loved garage saling with his wife, Mardene, which gave him the opportunity to socialize. He loved to talk to everyone – he was a very friendly, social person. Bob enjoyed having company over but especially enjoyed spending time with his family. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife Mardene of Merrill; son Jim (Joann Gilles) Wilke, also of Merrill; daughter Jill (Cary) Alft; four grandchildren: Melissa (Adam) Scheffler, Eric Wilke, Ashley (Aaron) Konopacki and Nathan Alft; two great-grandchildren: Isabella Scheffler and Owen Scheffler; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, mother and father-in-law, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Funeral Services will be held 12 Noon on Monday, June 23, 2014 at Waid Funeral Home. The Rev. Scott Gustafson will officiate. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Merrill Memorial Park.
