Lorraine Grunenwald

Lorraine Grunenwald, 89, of Merrill, died Jan. 12, 2014. 
She was born March 23, 1924 in the town of Berlin to the late August and Lydia Plautz. She married Douglas Grunenwald, April 25, 1942. He proceeded her in death in 1998 after being married 56 years. 
They farmed in the town of Berlin for 30 years. She was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses for 65 years sharing her faith and hope with many others. Lorraine was a homemaker and avid gardener. She enjoyed bird watching and was a nature lover. She also enjoyed playing cards and other games with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her talents included making rugs, sewing, crocheting, quilting and embroidery. She donated many baby quilts to local charities. She will be missed by her four children, David, (Marianne) of Onieda, WI, Marilyn Burback of Eau Claire. Dennis (Fern Pasholk) of Grand Rapids, MI, and Karen Metz (friend Al Rossal) of Merrill. Grandchildren include Tamara Grunenwald, Debra Squires, David Wengeler, Melanie Smith, Tracey Wengler, Erika Dombeck, Andy Zuelsdorff and Jason Zuelsdorff. She had 10 great grandchildren. Preceeding her in death were three sisters, Hilma Sawyer, Clara Roesler and Mary Jane Smith and two brothers, Ervin Plautz and Donald Plautz. There will be a memorial service on Thursday, Jan. 16, 11 a.m. at the Merrill Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses,  N3010 County Road K, Merrill.
