A structure fire on Thursday morning destroyed a home in the Town of Harrison. At 4:15 a.m., a resident at N10830 State Rd. 17, Rhinelander, called 911 to report that the garage attached to his home had caught fire. Fire units from the Town of Crescent Fire Department were dispatched along with deputies from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office.
When a deputy arrived, he found the family had safely escaped from the home but the garage had already collapsed and the fire had extended up into the attic.
Firefighters from the Oneida County towns of Crescent, Newbold, Pelican and the City of Rhinelander R. I. T. Team were joined by Oneida County Medic One and the Lincoln County Town of Russell Fire Department in fighting the fire.
Deputies from Lincoln County detoured traffic around the fire scene for over seven hours before finally opening the roadway just after noon.
