MCB meets PPP meets BBB meets MPD

The Merrill City Band is partnering tonight with the Merrill Police Department in celebration of Community Night Out in Normal Park. The band will feature swing and Dixieland pieces, a few polkas, and some crime fighting tunes. The theme comes from two audience suggestions last year of a Polka Party in the Park and Big Band Bash. Free food, activities, entertainment, and fun will be available beginning at 5:30 p.m. along with musical twosome “The Nameless,” Luke Fisher and Olaf Lund from Eau Claire. The duo performs a collection of tunes from Bob Dylan, Neil Young, Donovan, the Rolling Stones, Hank Williams and more. The powerful combination of guitar and violin/mandolin creates a haunting and lyrical experience for their audience that carries them through old favorites and originals alike. The city band will perform beginning at 7:30 p.m.
Free bus rides will be available from the Merrill-Go-Round to and from the park tonight, sponsored by the Merrill Police Association. Call 715-536-7112 for rides.
As always, gift certificates from local businesses will be given out as part of the 50/50 raffle during the city band portion of the event. Delicious popcorn and lemonade will be available from HAVEN. Come on down to the park with your lawn chairs, blankets, and a smile.
Cancellations are broadcast on Merrill’s WJMT and Tomahawk’s WJJQ, as well as Facebook. The “So Long, Farewell, Auf Wiedersehen, Goodbye” concert has been added for next Wednesday, so mark your calendars for the encore performance. In the event tonight’s concert is rained out, all Community Night Out festivities will be rescheduled for next week, Aug. 14.
