The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection is accepting applications for its Meat Processor Infrastructure Grant program, which provides funding to help meat processors expand capacity and increase throughput. Applications are open through Feb. 23, 2026.
The grant program offers up to $50,000 for eligible projects. Processors must provide a 100% match of the grant amount. The state has $700,000 available for the 2026 program.
To qualify, applicants must operate a meat processing establishment in Wisconsin licensed by DATCP or the U.S. Department of Agriculture and be engaged in livestock harvest or meat processing. Projects must aim to increase harvest or production by 20%.
Grant funds can be used for operating expenses directly related to the project, including engineering, architectural design, construction, food safety consultation, equipment, and equipment installation. Projects can last up to two years.
Former recipients have used such grants to modernize facilities, improve capacity and throughput, and increase employee retention.
Applications and materials are available at datcp.wi.gov/Pages/AgDevelopment/MeatProcessorInfrastructureGrants.aspx. Email questions to datcpdadgrants@wisconsin.gov. Grant recipients will be announced in the coming months.
