Lincoln County to host community conversations on substance use

Posted

The Lincoln County Health Department and Lincoln County Opioid Task Force will host three community conversations focused on substance use and the importance of community support.
The events are designed to reduce stigma around substance use and promote harm reduction. According to organizers, stigma — negative attitudes or beliefs about substance use — can prevent people from seeking help.
“Our community assessment showed that stigma is a major reason people who use substances do not seek treatment in Lincoln County,” said Erin Ray, Opioid Grant Coordinator for the Lincoln County Health Department. “We can reduce that stigma by having open, respectful conversations that build understanding and support within our communities.”
The conversations will provide opportunities for community members to share perspectives, listen and learn. Organizers hope the events will help build a healthier, more supportive environment for individuals and families affected by substance use.

Three events scheduled

The community conversations are scheduled as follows:
Refreshments and snacks will be provided at the Merrill and Tomahawk events.
