Lincoln County EDC receives state grant for new small business program

Posted

The Lincoln County Economic Development Corporation has been awarded $16,800 through the inaugural round of Small Business Technical Assistance (SBTA) grants from the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC), funding what organizers describe as the county’s first comprehensive small business technical assistance program.
The grant will support free, personalized guidance for local entrepreneurs in areas including business planning, financing, marketing and resource navigation. Plans also include an online hub and quarterly networking events intended to strengthen the local entrepreneurial ecosystem.
WEDC Secretary and CEO John W. Miller said the grants are designed to reach entrepreneurs across the state.
“Through these grants, we are expanding access to critical technical assistance and strengthening the small businesses that power communities across Wisconsin,” Miller said.
Lincoln County’s award was one of 20 grants totaling nearly $2 million distributed statewide in this first round of SBTA funding. The program is open to nonprofits, units of government, educational institutions, community organizations, foundations and Tribal entities. According to WEDC, this round of grants is expected to assist more than 2,000 individuals and businesses throughout the state.
