James "Jim" Edwards, age 87, passed away on May 29, 2026, with his loving wife, Judy, and his family by his side.
For 30 years, Jim taught social studies in the Merrill school system. His teaching style was to provide a calm, consistent classroom where students could learn without distraction. He was recognized as Teacher of the Year in 1978, an honor that took him to Washington, D.C., where he met President Jimmy Carter.
A memorial mass will be held 11:00 am, Monday, June 15, 2026 at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Bayfield. A reception will follow the service at the Bayfield Town Hall.
