James Edward Krause passed away on October 9, 2026. Jim was born to Edward and Lucille (Hoinacki) Krause in Beaver Dam, WI. Jim graduated from Beaver Dam High School with the Class of 1970. He earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point and his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. Jim married Katie English in 1980 in Merrill, WI.

Jim was a scientist, fisherman, gardener, environmentalist, investor, sports enthusiast (especially the Wisconsin Badgers), putterer and all-around unique and interesting person. Jim enjoyed traveling to hockey venues in the U.S. and Canada with his son, Jonathan, to watch the St. Louis Blues. He also loved watching Jonathan play dek hockey. Jim was a great husband and father, uncle and friend.

Jim is survived by his wife Katie, son Jonathan, siblings Ken (Barb), Jeanne, David (Catherine), Tom (Lisa), Karlene (John), Rick (Nancy) and Susan. He is also survived by his in-laws, Julie (Roger), Jean (Dan), Tom, Sue (Scott) and Cindy (John), along with many wonderful and much-loved nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents Ed and Lucille Krause, in-laws John and Marge English, nephew Austin Williams and brother-in-law Jim Maivald.

There will be no services, but we will celebrate Jim at a later date. Jim was a deep thinker, so to honor him, take some time to sit and think; figure out where you can do some good for the world.
