Hanging flower baskets once again beautify Merrill

Volunteers from Merrill’s Hanging Flower Basket Committee met at the Plant and Garden Center in Merrill on June 3, 2026, to place chains on the hanging flower baskets and then worked with the City of Merrill Street Department crew to hang the flower baskets throughout the business districts of Merrill.
This year, the group was able to purchase 10 new “self-watering” baskets, which were placed on light poles near Aspirus Merrill Hospital and the T.B. Scott Library. While the self-watering baskets still require watering, they need it less frequently than the traditional baskets. The group is hoping to raise additional funds to purchase more self-watering baskets in the future.
Donations from groups, individuals, and businesses within the Merrill community support the ongoing effort to beautify Merrill with the hanging flower baskets during the summer months, making the business districts more attractive to residents and visitors alike.
