Church Mutual IT Department holds food drive to benefit local shelters and food pantry

Posted

Church Mutual’s IT Department recently held a resources drive to benefit the Merrill Community Food Pantry, HAVEN, and the MAC Home. Along with food, they collected other much-needed hygiene items and cash donations. While the Merrill Community Food Pantry is a pretty well-known resource in the community, the shelters may not be as well-known.
HAVEN (Household Abuse Victims Emergency Network) is Merrill’s shelter for victims of domestic abuse of any kind, not just physical abuse, and provides both emergency and short-term shelter to those in need. The MAC Home is Merrill’s homeless shelter, which also provides both overnight and short-term shelter for those in need.
All three agencies will gladly accept donations to help “keep the lights on” and to help serve the area community in their focus areas.
In total, the IT Department made significant contributions to each of the organizations they focused on, donating:
• 730 pounds of non-perishable food items to the Merrill Community Food Pantry
• More than $700 worth of items to HAVEN and the MAC Home including “countless bars of soap, toothpaste and toothbrushes, plus a good amount of food”
• $349 cash to HAVEN
