Delores M. Walker

Delores M. Walker (nee Baumhardt) (formerly Essman), 91, of Fond du Lac formerly of Eden and Merrill, died Sunday, March 12, 2023 at Lake Pointe Villa in Oshkosh after a brief illness.  Delores was born on August 6, 1931, the daughter of Francis and Martha (Grahl) Baumhardt.  She attended school at Fond du Lac County Schools.  She was united in marriage to Albert Essman.  They were blessed with two children, Cynthia “Tootie” and Larry.  On November 8, 1972, she was united in marriage to Lee Walker.  They enjoyed 42 years of marriage.  Delores was a member of Tabor Church in Eden.  She was a very friendly woman with a quick sense of humor.  She was loved by all and will be greatly missed.  Delores enjoyed her special dogs and spent many hours talking about them.  She loved to sit outside listening to the birds and enjoying nature.  Delores knew exactly what type of bird was singing. 

Survivors include her son, Larry (Linda) Essman and their son, Jered Knebel.  Her step-daughters, Cindy (Ken) Dean and their children, Brady Dean and Heather LeNoble; Christine Ebert and her children, Angela Much, Jessica Norder, Tony (Mindy) Walker, Brianna Bossell, and Brittany Bossell.  Grandchildren, Jacob Dudzik and Nicole (Anthony) Lane.  Son-in-law, George Dvorak.  Niece, Rhonda (David) Ertel.  She is further survived by 12 step-great-grandchildren and 5 step-great-great-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, Delores was preceded in death by her first husband, Albert Essman; second husband, Lee Walker; daughter, Cindy Dvorak; grandson, James Essman; brothers, Marvin Baumhardt and Norbert (Joyce) Baumhardt and their children, Donna Thoma and Paula Baumhardt; and step-daughter, Linda (Brian) Dudzik and their daughter, Sarah.

A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, March 18th from 9:00 to 11:30 AM at the Twohig Funeral Home, 305 Fond du Lac Ave, Fond du Lac followed by a Memorial Service at 11:30 AM at the funeral home. Rev. Jessica Graham will officiate.  Private inurnment will be held at a later date at the Town of Empire Cemetery. The family would like to thank the staff of Lake Pointe Villa and Asera Care Hospice for the loving care they gave to Delores.  Memorials in Delores’ name may be directed to a charity of your choice.
