Bluejay Girls Varsity Swim Team sweeps it with first place finishes

The Merrill High School Girls Swim Team had their first dual meet on Tuesday, Aug. 31, at Medford and made a clean sweep.
“We were able to take first place in each of the Varsity events with many close thirds,” Coach Kristie Winters said. “We had a great first dual of the season. Our team leaders posted some great finishes, and many of our Freshmen had new personal best times.”
First place finishers for Varsity:
Event 2 – Girls 200 Yard Medley Relay: Grace Schultz, Amber Winter, Bailey Orzech, and Claire Schultz (1:58.38)
Event 4 – Girls 200 Yard Freestyle: Claire Schultz (2:11.08)
Event 6 – Girls 200 Yard IM: Grace Schultz (2:17.08)
Event 8 – Girls 50 Yard Freestyle: Claire Schultz (26.66)
Event 10 – Girls 100 Yard Butterfly: Amber Winter (1:06.15)
Event 12 – Girls 100 Yard Freestyle: Grace Schultz (57.79)
Event 14 – Girls 500 Yard Freestyle: Olivia Pajtash (5:58.67)
Event 16 – Girls 200 Yard Freestyle Relay: Bailee Sommer, Bailey Orzech, Ahna Wilde, Emma Pajtash (1:55.88)
Event 18 – Girls 100 Yard Backstroke: Amber Winter (1:09.17)
Event 20 – Girls 100 Yard Breaststroke: Bailey Orzech (1:15.93)
Event 22 – Girls 400 Yard Freestyle Relay: Grace Schultz, Ahna Wilde, Amber Winter, and Claire Schultz (4:01.45)
“The entire team came together and worked hard in all of their races,” Winters said.
