As of Tuesday, Feb. 12, $1,100 worth of Kwik Trip fuel cards has been donated to local war veterans in need of medical care at Wisconsin VA facilities. Hamburg MAR-LIN VFW Post 10203 was a recent recipient of $900 from DaVita Kidney Care, who brings a mobile dialysis truck to Merrill three times a week. This service dramatically reduces the need for patient travel to receive lifesaving dialysis treatments. Post members then used the $900 to purchase Kwik Trip fuel cards to help offset veteran’s travel expenses to and from appointments at VA facilities. Store Manager Heather Timm at Merrill’s Kwik Trip store #386-located on the corner of East Main Street and Memorial Drive-generously agreed to donate an additional $200 in Kwik Trip duel cards.
Many veterans have to travel many miles several times a year to visit VA medical facilities. These cards are a very welcome gift to defray travel costs not reimbursed by the VA.
