The Lincoln County Mental Health Coalition is pleased to announce that the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) will now be offering a free Family Support Group in Merrill. The NAMI Family Support Group is a peer-led support group for family members, caregivers and loved ones of individuals living with mental illness. The group meets on the second Wednesday of each month from 6-7 p.m. at the Ascension Good Samaritan Hospital in the DeAngelis Room.
“Sometimes we forget that those who are support people for others also need it for themselves,” say Ashley Bolling, MS, LPC, SAC, Mental Health Specialist for Ascension Medical Group Merrill. “Family Support provides that for family members, friends and loved ones of those who have a mental illness.”
The NAMI Family Support Group follows a structured model and is led by loved ones of individuals living with mental illness. The support group encourages empathy, productive discussion and a sense of community. Participants will benefit from others’ experiences, discover their inner strength and learn how to identify local resources and how to use them.
